Day 2

Today was amazing.

Wow. I'm not sure what to say! I'm beginning to think that I'm recording the exciting events of this weekend more for myself than anything...I want to remember everything that happened!!!

I didn't sleep in as much today. I got up and cooked breakfast for all of us (Nate did dishes ;). We played euchre (I lost horribly) and Scrabble (I kicked butt!!!) and pretty much just chilled until lunch. Actually, right before lunch the guys went out exploring new trails. I stayed home and got the chili on for lunch and then went on my own little hike! After lunch we all hit the trails! It's so beautiful down here...I don't know how to describe it to you. Sun shining down through the trees, cool breeze, zipping along the trail which runs right beside a little creek. Wow.

I took the 4-wheeler down the steepest hill ever. It was crazy! I'm beginning to see how Daniel O. and Chad and Stephen can do crazy things on their bikes. I was so scared, but it was AWESOME at the same time! Jumping over tree roots, climbing up embankments...it rocked. Coming up the hill was even better. Put it in first, lean up over the handle bars and 'just give 'er' ;) A-mazing.

So let me explain the picture at this point. We were going along this trail and it led into this puddle of water. Dad (who was in the lead) went inbetween these two trees, but the 4-wheeler was too wide! I tried a couple of times, but I wasn't going to fit. So Dad was just like....Go through the water, it'll be fine. So I plow into it. Sometimes when you get in a 'bad situation' if you just hold the throttle down, you'll get out. This wasn't one of those times! I got about 3 feet into the water and SPLOOSH....I was in deep! My tires started spinning (stupid thing has no clearance!) and it was pretty much not a good deal. Dad comes down and first thing he says is 'hand me your camera!' Thanks a lot! Anyway, I ended up pulling out of it and was super muddy...good times. Riding the trails was great...rough at times, but beautiful and challenging!

After the ride we came back to the cabin and Dad and I got cleaned up to head into town. We went to a Fiddlin' and Banjo Pickin' Contest. I love southern Kentucky :) Cute boys driving hick trucks, old men wearing camo coats and even older men in cowboy hats. The banjos and fiddles were amazing. I was tapping right along...as much to the music as to keep warm. Afterwards Dad and I went to this little hole-in-the-wall pool hall/diner for dinner and a game of pool. I lost and that's all we'll say about the pool game. I loved that place though...it had such a homey feel, the people and their southern drawl...I want to go back soon...

Wow, so I've pretty much gone on forever. I better get outta here...we're watching a movie and the view from here is less than adequate ;) I'm headed for the lazy boy...maybe some popcorn....life is good.

Love you guys....thanks for the comments on the last post...makes me feel more at home over here on 'blogspot'.

Oh Tal. Reading that makes me miss you. You know it's been way too long since I've seen you, you do know that right?:-) But, I'm super glad that you are having a great time, and I plan on calling you later today!!! Gotta love 'free weekend minutes'! Some of us hung out at Alex's last night, and it just didn't seem right without you there. Something was definitely missing...YOU! Anyway, I'll shut up now, and I'll call you later. Keep enjoying the beautiful weather, the relaxation, and the four-wheeling! Love ya Tal!

I can't believe we got cut off yesterday. What a pain. I'm going to get a new phone soon so this doesn't happen again. I'm so glad you're having a great time. You better not have to much fun or you won't want to come back to see all of us! I love Kentucky too. That's where my dad's family is from. I'm so glad you have beautiful weather for going out on the trails. Talk to you later.
